In addition to releasing on Nintendo Switch and PC via the Epic Games Store as previously announced, Axiom Verge 2 will make its way to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Creator Tom Happ shared a new trailer during Thursday’s Day of the Devs showcase, revealing Sony’s launch of the game, as well as new protagonist Indra’s playstyle. .
Unlike Trace, the character you play as in the first game, Indra fights using more of a hand-to-hand combat style. Very early on you’ll find a mining pick that you can use to attack enemies up close and later a boomerang at close range. They also have access to a remote drone with its own set of abilities, and they can hack into certain enemies to turn them on their side.
However, the most important tweak that Happ introduces with Axiom Verge 2 is that you will not have to beat the bosses of the game to progress. The game will reward you for it, but it won’t stop you from exploring the world that Happ has created for players to discover.. “If you’d rather go beyond them and keep exploring, this is a totally worthwhile way to experience Axiom Verge 2, ” he said during the showcase.
Axiom Verge 2 comes out later this year.
